I have tried to make a difference in the way I live my life to leave a smaller imprint on the Earth.  I have realized that I have a long way to go in my own green effort, but each step is making a difference in my life and the life of others.

Curb Side Recycling - Friday, August 15, 2008 Posted By: kendrag
During the summer I have been taking walks through the streets in my town.  I have found it very interesting on garbage day!  I was so disappointed to find a ton of recyclable items in people's garbage.  Just walking by I could see aluminum cans, cardboard boxes, and plastic containers!  It was not just a few houses, but about very house I passed.  I'm not digging through garbage cans.  I'm just noticing through the clear or white garbage bags.

This tells me I need to educate people about what can be recycled and what can not be recycled.

New Book - Wednesday, August 13, 2008 Posted By: kendrag
I found this book 1,001 Ways to Save the Earth by Joanna Yarrow.  I really like it because it is short and sweet.  The book really gives you simple ideas to help you change your life.  Now I want to become a bee keeper!  I love honey but also the bees help pollinate plants.  Actually, most of the tips you can really do in your home without any inconvenience.

Green Vision - Tuesday, July 08, 2008 Posted By: kendrag
The school I teach at has become a Green Vision School!!  We worked all year to improve everyone's habits and teach the students to think about the environment.  I am very excited and look forward to another year of Green Team meetings.

The other teachers at my school make fun of me and call me the "Recycling Police."  I have to say that I have saved many yogurt contains from the landfill.

Rain!! - Tuesday, June 17, 2008 Posted By: kendrag
I bought my husband a rain barrel for his birthday in April.  We didn't get it set up in our yard until the middle of May.  I think the 60 gallon barrel was full the third day we had it outside!  We have had so much rain and heavy downpours!    Now I wish we bought more!

My husband has made connections to get large barrels from a bussiness in town.  He is going to start making his own rain barrels.  I will have to keep you posted my how it goes.

Chico Bags - Sunday, May 11, 2008 Posted By: kendrag

I learned about Chico Bags from Zaproot.  I didn't make it time to get a free one from ViroPop, so I went online to check them out.  I ended up buying 5 and now I am giving them away as gifts.  I really like the bags because they can fit in a purse or be clipped to a handbag.  It seems like I always forget to bring in my canvas bags into stores, so now I have no excuse.
